Originally from Springfield, Illinois - her journalism career spans from Bangkok, Thailand to Des Moines, Iowa and Milwaukee Wisconsin. She has covered stories ranging from the "Butter Cow" at the Illinois State Fair to the 2008 Democratic and Republican political conventions, to the Massachusetts Senate race between Scott Brown & Martha Coakley, to being on the ground during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Schwandt now helps coordinate the editorial coverage out of the DC bureau.
