Today is The Day at UPS
December 16, 2010 - 4:30 PM | by: Robert LeeHODGKINS, IL. – It’s the busiest day of the year at the largest ground shipping plant for the United Parcel Service and that means millions of packages will make their way through this one plant in suburban Chicago.
“Today, at this facility, we expect to ship 2.3 million packages”, said John Cason Transportation Manager at the facility.
Its called CACH or the Chicago Area Consolidation Hub, and despite that fact that it employs over 8000 people with 4 shifts, most of the sorting is done with high speed cameras leaving the loading and unloading to human hands. Fox Business spent the day watching packages coming and going, heading to small towns, big cities and everywhere in-between all over the country.
