Excuse Me While I Kiss This Car!

December 6, 2010 - 5:19 PM | by: Robert Lee

Sterling Heights, MI- Last year employees at the Chrysler Sterling Heights Assembly plant were expecting the worst, they had been told that the plant was slated to close. What a difference a year makes, not only will the plant now stay open, but it will manufacture the all-new Chrysler 200 and the Dodge Avenger.

The news was delivered by the Chrysler Groups CEO Sergio Marchionne and outgoing Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm (D). The exciting news for the 1100 workers prompted Granholm, UAW Chrysler Department General Holiefield and Sterling Heights Mayor Richard Notte to kiss the hood of the 200.  The 850 million dollar investment will see new construction of a paint shop, a second shift in 2011 and new products in 2013.
