Manhunt Still Underway in Thailand for British Kickboxer

August 20, 2010 - 1:16 PM | by: David Piper

The hunt for 28-year-old Lee Aldhouse in connection with the killing of former marine Dashawn Longfellow is continuing in Thailand.

Thai police say he is the prime suspect in the murder of Longfellow who served in both Afghanistan and Iraq and was the recipient of a Purple Heart.

The former marines body was found with several stab wounds to his chest at the resort he was staying in Phuket.

Thai police say hours earlier he was drinking with his Thai girlfriend in a bar when Aldhouse picked a fight with him.

Both are believed to have been students of Muay Thai, or Thai Kickboxing.

According to eyewitnesses Longfellow overpowered the British man, which apparently humiliated him in front of everyone in the bar, which he regularly drank at.

Its believed Aldhouse then followed the former Marine back to his hotel and then, according to police, stabbed Longfellow with a knife before fleeing the scene.

It won’t be easy to find the British man.

Thai Police believe he remains on the tropical island of Phuket where the murder took place.

It’s a moderately large island. It takes a couple of hours in traffic to drive from the top to the bottom.

But it’s a heavily populated place and also there are tens of thousands of western tourists there at any time.

If you wanted to hide there it would be quite easy particularly if you have friends who will help you.

And it’s also not difficult to get off the island despite there being only one bridge.

For perhaps fifty bucks you could easily hire a fishing boat to the mainland.

For somebody like Aldhouse to continue to remain free will be difficult in Thailand though.

Thai police have a good record of tracking criminals down.

The number of foreigners languishing in Bangkok prison is testament to their ability to catch offenders.

And there aren’t many escape routes out of Thailand.

It would be difficult to get into either of the closest countries to Phuket, Malaysia and Myanmar.

The borders of Cambodia and Laos are more porous in the east of the country but it’s a long way to travel to with police on the look out.
Thai police say they have notified all air and seaports and are issuing photos of the man they are after.

The expat community on the tropical island of phuket are said to be living in fear at the moment with this man still on the loose.

According to expats on the island he terrorized the place for years by picking fights and boasting he was invincible.

Now they are concerned that as he’s now on the run he might try to settle some old scores.
