Civil War Prison Unearthed
August 20, 2010 - 2:43 PM | by: Tom JachmanArchaeologists from Georgia Southern University have unearthed relics from a Confederate prison in Magnolia Springs State Park near Millen, GA. Their discovery was unveiled to the public this week. The graduate students who made the find told stories of the relics, and what they tell us about life for more than 10,000 Federal troops who were imprisoned there. At the time the prison was called “the world’s largest.” Watch the following video to hear GSU graduate student Kevin Chapman describe the archaeological find.
