Ahhhnold “Afraid” of Deportation from AZ
May 11, 2010 - 8:00 PM | by: Meghan BakerCalifornia Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is dealing with immigration issues of his own…
The Governor took time during a commencement speech in Georgia to poke fun at Arizona’s recent immigration law.
In his thick Austrian accent, Schwarzenegger explained to Emory University: “I was also going to give a graduation speech in Arizona this weekend,” he joked. “But with my accent, I was afraid they would try to deport me.”
The Gov. was full of jokes during the keynote speech. He also teased his wife Maria Shriver and his in-laws, the Kennedy family: “This is my first law degree,” he said. “Finally, the Kennedy’s will think I’m a success. And Maria can finally bring me home to meet her family.”
Schwarzenegger is known for being proud of his immigrant past and is quoted as saying: “As you know, I’m an immigrant. I came over here as an immigrant, and what gave me the opportunities, what made me to be here today, is the open arms of Americans. I have been received. I have been adopted by America.”
If Arnold had been deported out of Arizona, I’m sure his response would have been his classic one liner “I’ll be back…”
