One Year In – “Better Then People Thought”
December 14, 2009 - 6:43 PM | by: Robert LeeELGIN, IL. While conducting a roundtable discussion with local employers, Rep Bill Foster (D-IL) was upbeat on the economy and how the bailouts have performed to date.
Foster said ” Back in February, people were talking about the likelihood of a depression. Remember ‘Depression 2.0′? People don’t talk like that anymore. If someone had offered us the possibility of having positive GDP growth in the 3rd quarter, people would have just thought we were nuts.
Foster and Rep. Bean (D-IL) toured Winergy, a company that makes components for wind turbines and is expanding their staff to meet demand. A 28-year company employee said they have never been so busy and expect to double the staff next year.
After the tour Foster said his main focus has been Wall Street and banking reform, and he talked about the TARP program. ” These Conditions have turned out pretty well for the U.S. tax payer, we are going to actually turn a modest profit for the tax payers.” Watch clips of his Fox News interview here…{VignetteVideo assettitl=”foster” id=”DC1C5D09A1AD4940AA7983B650465B17″ width=”375″ aspectratio=”1.77″ height=”211.864406779661″ autoplay=”on” }
