18 Militants Killed in Afghan Border Clash

November 29, 2009 - 10:25 AM | by: Greg Palkot

Eighteen "enemy" forces were killed in an overnight clash near the Afghan border in Tani, Khost, Major Matt Gregory at Camp Salerno told Fox News.

The clash happened when a group variously described as Taliban or Foreign Fighters apparently came across the Pakistani border and attacked an Afghan Border Police position. The ABP were involved in a prolonged firefight and contacted the nearby U.S. Combat Outpost at Tani. U.S. air strikes were called in.

In addition to finding the bodies, U.S. soldiers at the scene Sunday have recovered numerous heavy weapons including RPG's.

The Afghan Border police, as well as Afghan Army and Afghan Police, are training and conducting operations with the U.S. Army now in this critical area.

Cross border strikes by the dangerous "Haqqani" faction of the Taliban are frequent. This group has close links to Al Qaeda. Fox News was embedded with troops in the region last week.

All US forces should have deplomatic immunity of any crimes they were sent to commit in Iraq and Afanistan. Afterall foreing deplomats do have that immunity in the USA for over 50 years. Its only fair.

You think killing/capturing Osama Bin Laden has any affect on what is going on in Afghanistan now? It would be nothing more than a symbolic victory at this point.

What concerns me most right now is the story that we could have gotten Bin Laden eight years ago. We might have been able to be outta there by now. Makes me rethink my opinion of the Bush doctrine.

Why spend time on Tiger Woods, This is not a news worthy story. Fox is starting to act as a tabloid with stories not worthy of the time spent. After it is decided what happen report it.

Bob, Your complete lack of knowledge on this subject amazes me. It is almost comical that you are willing to post a statement on a prominent news media outlet. Last time I checked our mission here is to support the local Afghan population, stabilize and assist in the development of governance, and provide assistance in separating the insurgency from the population. All while helping train the Afghan security forces so that they can assume security responsibilities. What are you doing today?

When an Islamist, who yells "Allahu Akbar!!" and shoots a lot of American Military at their own base in the U.S., is being "cleared" of terrorism by the current Government and media, and Pseudo Americans treating the U.S. military as assasins; what can one expect in the future. Ahh, and another small matter. The U.S. has been invaded by some 12 million aliens, who are being looked after and cared for by the Government with the taxpayer´s money. Wake up America!!!

America should read Three Cups of Tea, and support the author. The government should listen to him. He eloquently explains the tribal lives, poverty and illiteracy that drive this region. Unbelievable!

Liberal Democrats are such losers...They equate losing a war as winning.

You cannot win in Afganistan. Its not possible. No military in the world can rid the mountains there of extremeists. America has this notion that they are invincible, and everthing is a contest. Well, America, you've met your match once again in Afganistan, when, oh when will you learn!!

I invite all of you to review the USA's recent military history (1950)and their frustration as a fighting force when the Democrats (now the Liberal Left) are in power at the time of conflict. It seems without exception that the word "winning" is always replaced with "exit strategy". "They" seem to deem acceptable an (unknown) number of US casualties, declare victory and exit in disgrace; ask any Vietnam Vet. Where would we be if Slick Willy had let the CIA takeout Bien Lauden(sp)when they had him in the crosshairs? Why is it that Iran released all US Embassy hostages when Reagan came into office? They knew what was next. Our enemies relish in seeing a casterated US military; Obviously, our Messiah is quite intelligent in which there is the rub; I cannot conclude whether is is naïveté, ignorance or undeclared unmandated omnipotence and/or "intellectual" arrogance. Or (the liberal will love this) is it the agenda of the "Progressives" to dismantle our country's structure as we know it? Then "they" can "rebuild" it under the blueprint of their ideology? Just a thought.

Bob, do you forget about the IED's they put out to kill our men? Do you remember the pictures in the soccer field where they excute their women by shooting them in the head or keep them at home and not allow them to go out (like prisoner)? These people don't respect each other or anyone from another tribe, they live like barbarians. They use their women and children and old for human shields! Don't go and say WE KILL THEIR PEOPLE, they get more respect from us then they ever will from their own kind. I feel sorry for you and the way you think! We are the good guys and always have been in every situation-peroid!

Bob, you got it wrong. E weren't lied to about A-STAN. AQ was given safe haven from the Taliban which had control of the country back then. Your anti Military attitude shows. Since when do we ever target the old, sick, women and children. It just goes to show how FOS you are.
