Jews and Palestinians Criticize Obama

November 18, 2009 - 11:22 AM | by: Michael Tobin

US President Obama told our Major Garrett “I think additional settlement building does not contribute to Israel’s security. I think it makes it harder for them to make peace with their neighbors.  I think it embitters the Palestinians in a way that could end up being very dangerous.”

As quickly as that quote was released, it became the shot heard around Israel. Within minutes, the 3 major Israeli news websites had it translated into Hebrew and up as the banner headline.  A great deal of attention is paid to the growing strain between Israel and the US because President Obama demanded the freeze on all settlement construction, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to build and his government continues to announce more plans for construction.

Instead of adopting the freeze in settlement construction Netanyahu’s government is using the word “restraint,” meaning they will restrict construction to land upon which Israel has already settled. They won’t grab new land in the West Bank.

Still, they build, agitating the Obama administration and well as Palestinians. Plans were announced on Tuesday for 900 new housing units in the settlement Gilo. That is not a contentious settlement because, although it is beyond the 1967 border, it was long ago annexed into Jerusalem and is considered untouchable in negotiations. That did not stop the White House from issuing a statement saying, “We are dismayed” by the new construction plans.

On Wednesday - - -  told Fox News Radio’s Courtney Kealy that Palestinians have lost trust in President Obama, “His speech in Cairo last June inspired many that there would be a breakthrough in the Palestinian Israeli conflict. But now Palestinians here say they are pessimistic and have lost faith in his administration…they feel he hasn’t been tough enough on Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu in demanding a complete halt in settlement building.”

And in East Jerusalem, American Democrats were taking swings at the President. A group of American Jews laid the cornerstone for a new Jewish neighborhood on land that the Palestinians want for their future capitol. As that happened New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-NY) told Fox News, “The people of Israel right now don’t trust Obama that he is really being fair to Israel.  He can’t figure it out, what to do in Afghanistan while our troops are in danger but he can figure out that a few more hundred Jews living in Gilo is going to undermine the peace process.”

It is not a great lie. The day you die you will see the truth. Nothing or no one is perfect. there are people who claim to be Christian that do bad things and they will have to answer for that. but you will have an eternity of suffering if you do not know Jesus.

As a former Marine, a christian and someone that has actually traveled to Israel, the solution will never be 2 seperate states. Until the leadership in this country finally decides to do something about Terrorist organizations and the countries that support them, this battle will rage for another thousand years. We have a weak and indesicive president that has no clue on how to actually deal with any situation. His only concern is saying the right words at the right time. Israel has been held in check for far too long, it's time to let them put a stop to all of the aggression in the region against them on their own terms. We certainly can't seem to come up with a solution. Let Obama go on Oprah and Ellen for his popularity fix, and let's just get out of Israel's way. Mr. President, you're the wrong man, trying to do the wrong job at the wrong time.

I hope you will sleep tight because what you just said in jest was you are a murderer and if convicted would be put to death for any unborn baby or the killing of an innocent person regardless of one's age. You are the very reason Jesus died on the cross,he died for all sinners.

Jesus was born Jewish, isn't it funny that for some 2000 years Jesus has been under the microscope,Jesus is always under attack and the Christian belief's.Religion or being religious has nothing to do with being a Christian,a christian is a follower of Christ,so that being said Christians must support Israel and Israel's land must not be divided. I didn't say it, God said it, look it up it's in the Bible.

Gentlemen - It's been a pleasure debating life, the universe and everything with you this evening. But it's getting late and since I'm a democrat I still need to abort a few babies, murder a grandmother or two and say my prayers to Obama while facing Kenya so I will bid you all good evening.

The Soviet Union and Communist China are atheistic societies and they murdered millions so where is the "religion" excuse with them? Since the beginning of time man has killed his fellow man for one reason or another, so don't be so quick to blame religion for all the world's wars or woes!

Faith in Jesus Christ has nothing to do with all the killings that was done using His name. Christ never once mentioned that killing was at times necassary. As a matter of fact, he thought that getting angry was just as bad as the actual killing. Don't confuse Christ with what people may have done puportedly in His name. Christ is the savior of the world, and those who wish to not beleive, God gave them that choice. But I, nor my faith in Jesus Christ has caused anyone any harm or death. Christianity is a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If others kill it His name, that is their responsiblity, not Christ or any other Christians for that matter.

Scott, If you live like it is true and its not, you are out of nothing, but if it is true your judgement is on you for your unbelief. Something to think about isn't it. Jesus taught the disciples...and I'm paraphrasing.... Go preach the word and to all that receive you freely go in and eat with them and share the word, but if they receive you not or don't receive your word shake the dust off your feet when you leave. This means if you refuse to listen, you condemn yourself.

Don W thinks we should cut off all aid to Israel. OK, so your position is to turn against a small and vastly outnumbered Democracy that is NOT a theocracy, but allows any faith to be in government. You prefer to hitch your wagon to Muslim extremists that would enact Shariah law, would exclude Atheists like yourself from the governing process, and in fact would abolish Democracy on any land they hold. Now that's a true pro-Democracy position you have there. You should be proud.

firecracker - interesting assertion...the founding fathers had some opinions about Christianity too...but faith over facts, that's what I always say. "Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined, and imprisoned, yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half of the world fools and the other half hypocrites." - Thomas Jefferson "During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry, and persecution." - James Madison "The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason." - Benjamin Franklin

Our country was founded on Christian beliefs, and our founding fathers believed in God and the Bible.Obama said he is a Muslim and follows the Koran, not the Bible, although he professes to be a Christian,he is a liar. Also dear Scott, take a real good look at our president and our Gov't, they are telling us how we should run our lives,Obama wants to dictate to us on our Health care,or Govt run health care, taxing sodas and other foods that he doesn't approve of,he is taking all of our freedoms away and so many Americans don't see it.Our president is selling us out fast because he is only thinking about the wealth and the glory he will receive. He doesn't care about Israel. He is a woof in sheep's clothing Plain and simple our President is a Soc--------

Eric - that is EXACTLY the great lie..."What if you're wrong?" It's the same sales pitch as Wimpy would give..."I will gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today" I'll live and love happily and take my chances...fortunately we are in a place where you and I both have the option to do as we please.

Giving more land to the Palestinians will bring peace? Did it bring peace when the Arabs had the land before '67 and attacked Israel anyway?! The Hamas charter states its agenda very clearly-to wipe Israel off the map. Period. Small Israel has been repeatedly attacked by the big Arab nations, and by the grace of G-D, was victorious. G-D is obviously with them! The Bible was given by G-D 1000's of years ago, but will never be obsolete! Also google WHAT THE QUR'AN REALLY SAYS.
