Missing Metallica Fan Search Continues

November 16, 2009 - 9:23 AM | by: Laura Ingle

The band Metallica played another sold out show at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday -- for the second of a two night tear for the hard rockers.

Fans once again lined up around the block, wearing the band's t-shirts, chanting the band's name hoping to hear their favorite song once inside.  There was a reminder of a desperate search for one of their own.  The brother of missing Morgan Harrington held a candlelight vigil outside the arena to let others know his sister is still gone, and there is a 150-thousand dollar reward out there to help find her and bring her home.

He was also there to thank the band members of Metallica for offering up 50-thousand dollars towards that reward that will hopefully spark someone to come forward with information in the case.  Lead singer James Hetfield called Morgan's father as soon as he heard about her disappearance, and offered the band's financial help, and posted the information on it's website.

350 miles away from Madison Square Garden, Morgan Harrington's family members are fielding phone calls, hoping for word that she has been found safe and alive.   It has been a long and terrifying wait for some good news, which still has not come.

Morgan Harrington, is a 20 year old college students from Virginia who has been missing since October 17th.   She was last seen outside of a Metallica concert at the John Paul Jones Arena on the University of Virginia campus (UVA) in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Virginia State Police recently announced that they are working with what they believe to be an accurate timeline of events in the night, have some new eye witness accounts, and are hoping that a picture of a necklace Harrington was wearing that night will help them find her.

It is a Swarovski Crystal necklace made up of large crystal chain links and is described as being very distinctive.  Investigators hope that by releasing this picture, it may spark the memory of someone who has seen her, and lead them to call police with information how to find her.  There are more clues coming out about the night she vanished from the Metallica concert.

The timeline investigators have been able to come up with, put Harrington outside the arena around 8:30p.m..  Her friends say that she left their group inside the arena to go to the bathroom, then somehow got locked outside and was not allowed re-entry (standard policy at concerts).  She called her friends to say that she would find a ride home, and hasn't been heard from since.  Her purse, and cell phone that was missing the battery were found the next day near the UVA athletic field, which is near where she was last spotted by another person heading into the concert.  According to published reports, she was seen with a group of four young white men heading away from the arena into an empty parking lot.   Others reportedly spotted her around 9:20p.m. hitchhiking on the Copeley Road bridge.  A newspaper delivery woman claims that she saw Harrington at 3:45am Sunday morning near a "party area" on campus, and that the young woman was wearing the exact outfit described by police that she was seen the night she vanished.  Police have not been able to confirm the sighting or any of the others that have been called in, there have been over 400.  Investigators though, need someone to call in a tip that will lead them to Harrington who was last seen wearing a black T-Shirt with the band name "Pantera" spelled out in tan letters, a black mini skirt, and knee-high black boots.  If you have any information, you are asked to call the Virginia State Police Tip Line at 434-352-3467 or email State Police at bci-appomattox@vsp.virginia.gov

There are other students still missing under strange circumstances. A few are crime victims, some are found suicides with no warning or sign of depression, but a very few return in altered mental states. That suggests that something is happening from mental events to cause these disappearances. Morgan was seen to fall and not able to communicate when she stood. Then she was seen crying in the bathroom, INSIDE. No one has explained the abandoned purse and cell. or why she would hitch hike.

http://www.kristenfoundation.org/cgi-bin/datacgi/database.cgi?file=hw&report=sp&ID=027 Not the first time a pretty young woman has disappeared from a concert. Dail Dinwiddie has never been found. She disappeared after a U2 concert in 1992.

"Her friends say that she left their group inside the arena to go to the bathroom." Were they seated already, had the show started, Exactly how did she go from going to the bathroom to being outside? Then somehow got locked outside and was not allowed re-entry. Did any of the security comfirm this? What gate denied re-entry? Has anyone tried sending a decoy into the same "party" district, Copeley Road bridge? Has anybody noticed any friends sitting on pins an needles, uptight lately? Check all school records and see who didn't come in the next day? Anybody drop out all together? Grades dropping?

who cares what she wore or if there were drugs involved, the point is that she has disappeared another person that has just went missing and a another family is heartbroken and worried about a loved one this is sickening to think what are chilren are facing when they go out into this world. her mom and dad are just beside themselves with worry if she is missing on her own freewill then i am sure she would have contacted her family to stop this misery, since that has not happened the person that is responsible or if someone knows something say something anything her parents don't deserve this pain

I am a NASCAR fan and go to the races and YES they do scan the tickets coming and going. Also I have to agree...why would she supposedly go to the restrooms outside. Didn't her friends think that was kinda ODD?? Something is not right.

Well its been several weeks now. She is most likely deceased. There are witnesses who saw her in the arena "wasted" right in front of them. The authorities for what ever reason don't think this is important in piecing this all together. I happen to think it is vital. It is also key for her friends to come clean as they surely know the real reason she was outside. The ignorance in some investigation procedures is outrageous.

Stamdard operating procedure at concerts, no rentry, nothing new there, once you leave the venue you're out. Anyone remember a couple of years ago a girl named Emily Sander aka Zoey Zane? That was her alias, she was a college student that was leading a dual life, college student by day, internet porn star by night and nobody knew, she was last seen leaving a bar with some guy and then they found her body. Is it possible that this was all a plan so that she could assume an alternate lifestyle as somebody else? What about Brittanee Drexal who disappeared in the spring from Myrtle Beach, SC never to be heard from again, and the infamous Natalee Holloway. God be with these girls and their families.

gretchen, you're not supposed to wear the shirt of the band that you are there to see. don't be that guy. and I'm not sure how wearing a certain t-shirt would indicate drug use.

http://michellemalkin.com/category/media-bias/christiannewsom-murders/ looks like we may have to add Morgan Harrington's name to a memorial website along with Channon Christian and Chris Newsom.

I read on the facebook site (Help Find Morgan Dana Harrington) that her jacket was found. Does anyone know if this is true and if so where was it found?

My heart goes out to the family of this missing young lady. No matter what she was wearing, she is still not found .. that is the main issue. I will pray that someone will come forward with information which will lead the police on the right trail.

@ Gretchen M, Thats very ignorant to say that she was probably on drugs just because she was wearing a "pantera" shirt at a Metallica concert. People wear other band gear at concerts all the time.

Here is my take on this horrible situation. The battery was taken out because of the ability police have of tracking people's location with the cell phone as long as it is turned on or has the battery in. Right? or am I wrong...I pray that this young woman is found and soon. My heart and prayers are with her family
