Qaddafi to Italian Women: Convert

November 16, 2009 - 2:42 PM | by: Greg Burke

Libyan Leader Muammar al-Qaddafi gave a lecture on Islam to more than 100 young Italian women on Sunday night, encouraging them to convert and telling them it was false that Islam discriminated against women.

Qaddafi, in Rome for the United Nations World Summit on Food Security, told the women that Christ came for the Jews, but that Mohammed came for everyone, according to Italian press reports.

Libyan officials used an agency that provides hostesses for conferences to advertise for Italian women between the ages of 18 and 35 to attend the talk, held at  the Libyan embassy in Italy. The women were told to dress modestly, with no miniskirts and no plunging necklines.

At the end of the lecture Qaddafi gave each woman a copy of  the Koran, and took their names, telling them they would be invited for a vacation in Libya.

I find it very interesting how Muslims are apparently not allowed to preach their gospel to the masses and try and spread their religion. A little hypocritical don't you think? Just because they are not a Judeuo-Christian path means that they can not try to recruit? Get a grip!! Besides, all three religions (Judaism, Muslim and Christianity) are all pretty much the same. Sure, some of the names have been changed to conform to the geography but, same story, different characters. Get off your high horse and simply accept that not everyone will choose to follow your path. Sure, it may not be the same as yours but it is their choice. Either way, whoever is wrong when Judgement comes, they're kinda screwed anyway, right? So, just accept this point and if given an opportunity, feel free to share in hopes of converting someone, but until then, butt-out.

take a good look at reality people, our planet is dying, millions are starving, global warming, pollution species extintion, climate changing, polar ice caps melting, glacier melting, fresh water is becomming scarce, and all humanity can do is argue about religion and whos god is right! come on people where is god in all this? whos god is going to save the world now? where is god of any religion,on vacation? no religion is right or wrong, all have immoral acts committed in them, which cannot be hidden. will god save planet earth, the earth humans are distroying? no god in any religion is going to save planet earth this is up to us to do. humans dont have any right to exterminate the planet because of our own ignorance there are other life forms that have a right to planet earth too. mankind is the virus that will murder planet earth,no god is there to stop it. we have to,if we want to live on planet earth in the future with all the species mother earth has given us all to share and love. religion is the root of all evil, and spreads hate, greed, intollerance, plato said, surly the soul can best reflect when it is free of all distractions, such as hearing and sight of many kinds is it ignors the body and becomes the as far as possible independent avoiding all contacts and associations with the outside world as much as it can in its search for reality. we find a conviction in life,as a true source. we ever have pure knowledge of anything we must acknowledge these sources and accept the body and souls as one contimplating things by themselves from one freed soul to another. that every living thing has the right to exist!

"SHAME ON THE VATICAN" to let someone like QADDAFI to come to a CHRISTIAN country to buy Christian women, you will be killed by muslims if you do that in a muslim country or even in a Christian country. Please for JESUS'S sake open your eyes before it is too late, like Egypt where the Christians are minorities now because they were afraid to speak up.

Jesus came for everyone that is why HE was raised from the dead by God to give life to all who would turn their hearts and actions from sin. Muhammad did come for everyone too, but he offered the sword, his only verification that he was a messenger of God was the Koran which only himself could verify yet a prophet needs at least 2 people for their testimony to be verified, all other “prophets” had 2 people and those who didn’t (such as Mosses) had God himself verify their testimony through miracles. When Muhammad died he stayed in the grave, not able to offer anyone the hope of ever lasting life. Islam loves death (words straight from Bin laden) Christians love life. Christians will stand before God as victims and Muslim extremist will stand before God as murders expecting a reward. I'll leave it to the individual to contemplate how God will respond to either individual. PS the crusades are to Christianity what extremist are to Islam!

Personally, I beleive in God, but have come to despise any and all religions. Freewoman pretty much said it best. Here's an idea. How about whatever leadership the Muslim religion has, condemns, "excommunicates", and places a bounty on any extremist that defames their "peaceful" religion. The same goes for any "Christian" adult that whistles "Where the Boys Are" while going about their peaceful ways.

What a shame! Have you looked around you lately? Our entire world is in chaos (a state of utter confusion or disorder)! We, as a people, obviously have lost our way, when it comes to morality issues, which is the base-line for proper living and honest governing in any society. People in every nation are refusing to hear guidance on any moral issue or standard and instead rely on their own ideas for spiritual guidance. If we were a perfect species, without faults, sins, or mistakes, we would need no God, we would need no Jesus, we would need no rescue, however; that isn't the case is it? Since the 60's, people have screamed, "Live and let live" and "Do whatever you want, as long as it doesn't hurt me or mine." They wanted noone "preaching" to them then and certainly not now. Question: Has the world become a better place? You already know it hasn't. We have sought to remove God and God's laws for humanity from our lives, from our schools, from our government, and from our society ... what do you expect? It is inconvenient to have morality, to have laws, to have absolutes. People desire to take the path of least resistance and its too difficult for most to follow a higher standard ... one that demands humility before our Creator. Oh, you believe we just "arrived" on this scene called earth? That all of nature just "happened"? Its all by design ... and that designer is called our Creator. What does He have to say about all this? Well, my friends, why don't you stop complaining and listening to every "Tom, Dick, and Harry" and read His Words to a slowly, but surely, dying world. His Words, His Love, and yes, His Commandments are found in the Holy Bible ... for all people.

To all that have posted here, thank you. Stating opinions is one of the great things we enjoy in this country. My opinion is that Col. Quddafi is an idiot. Anyone that would give him the forum to talk to 100 young non-Islamic women is also an idiot. On the topic of religion, remember that the moralistic values that this country were based upon where generally those of the Christian faith. There have been many instances in history where one faith or another have been imposed on others, in most cases ending in war. One poster mentions the harshness of Islamic law on an out of control people....good point. One need only look at the immoral history of Hitler's Germany ( 70 years ago ) to see what can happen to people when you loose any connection to moral faith-based values. Everything is considered OK.... including mass murder. As a Christian, I believe in Gods love and take his teachings from the Bible as a guidepost for living a moralistic but imperfect life. We are all sinners. Remember, God also gave us free-will, meaning that we make personnal choices on what we do and when we do it. A criminal makes a decision to commit a crime....it was his decision. That decision will result in earthly consequences and ultimately heavenly consequences. Commenting on another post, since the vast majority of this country considers themselves Christian (including our founding fathers), one would continue to expect the general moral values and laws would reflect those of the Christian faith. Does that mean I do not respect opinions of others? No. Again...remember free will.... I do strongly resent when one vocal minority group trys to jam there lifestyle down my throat and tell me that I must accept it hook, line, & sinker. Sorry..... remember free will..... I have friends who are gay & friends who are atheist and in both cases we agree to disagree on a number of topics. AGAIN...remember free will.... I conclude by thanking this news outlet for allowing me to stand on my little soapbox and express my opinion..... God Bless America!

Very good, I think Gaddafi is on to something here. Next, let's have Gordon Brown or the Pope go to Libya and try to say something about christianity to women there, oh! I forgot christianity is for the Jews. Sorry, let's try the Indian Prime Minister, we need to hear him try to convert Libyan women to Hinduism. That way we can find out how honest Islam is.

From your comments, it is my humble opinion that you have some serious misconceptions about Christianity. Why don't you try reading the New Testament for yourself, alongside the original Greek text? You may find that you have misunderstood what the Christian faith is about.

Qaddafi is either biblically illiterate or willfully deceiving. The Bible clearly teaches that Christ came for people from all nations, tribes and tongues, not just for the Jews. Interestingly enough there are more Christian Arabs in the Middle East than there are Jews in the whole world. Perhaps Qaddafi should ask why this is true. I believe the reason is to be found in the love of God... “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
