Fox News in Nashville for CMA Week!November 11, 2009 - 12:20 PM | by: Ashley Dvorkin
Music City is rocking this week thanks to the Country Music Awards and all the biggest names in the industry hanging out around town. Fox News caught up with Darius Rucker at the Sommet Center where the CMA’s will be held, as he rehearsed for his performance. We spoke to the “Hootie and the Blowfish” frontman about how he has been accepted into this country family and took in a preview of what he’ll be doing at the show.
We also found Alan Jackson Tuesday morning with fans lined up at a “pop-up” Cracker Barrel store in downtown Nashville to meet the star and check out his new 40-plus items collection exclusively on sale there. The collection is filled of things he helped design from cowboy hats to a box of photos he took of his home, rocking chairs with his signature on the back and of course, a CD featuring some unreleased tunes. He came in person to sign autographs for the fans and we spoke with him about how he had a big part in creating the collection, staying on the road constantly to show his appreciation for his loyal audience, songwriting, and more.
Next, jamming for supporters the day before the big show, former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler – as a red-head! Which did not go unnoticed by audience members who asked her all about what inspired the change. She was also mixing things up on stage, with an intimate set at the Country Music Hall of Fame she sang songs and sat for a Q&A with the audience in between each one. She shared stories about everything from her family, to her song inspiration, and even her American Idol days. Then folks were singing along with her radio hits as she and her band kept the party going!
Today is now CMA day – and we’ll be visiting with more stars on and off the red carpet and reporting back with plenty more from Nashville.
