Gun Battle in West LA
November 5, 2009 - 1:21 PM | by: Adam HousleyIt isn't normal day when a news story comes to us, but that's exactly what happened as LAPD officers take on armed robbers in a gun battle that sends one suspect to the hospital and two others to jail. It all began early this morning at a gas station on the corner of Bundy and Olympic in West Los Angeles, when officers driving down the street noticed an armed robbery in progress. Seeing the officers, the suspects took off running down the street....guns in hand. Mistake one....pulling a robbery....mistake two...running away with weapons. Now comes mistake number three...opening fire on the LAPD.
Thankfully LA's finest avoided any injury, but the same can't be said for one suspect shot while in the pursuit and another was captured and taken to jail. Now fast forward five hours later. While I am talking with the sergeant who covers this area, we are watching officers clear areas with guns drawn behind some buildings nearby. Apparently one of the canine units had hit on the area a bit earlier, but nothing had been found. Now the officers are back and notice there is a small area under a dumpster where the ground dips a bit in elevation...and that's where they find suspect number three....wedged in trash and gunk under a dumpster. As he is cuffed and escorted to a black and white, I notice he is yawning....must have been a tough night. His arrest trail passes by a green cone that marks where a Beretta sits on the sidewalk, dropped by one of the suspects during the gun battle and chase. I am told it is one of the guns used by the bad guys against the police and another one was found down the street. Here is a video as the suspect is taken away, check out the Kyte media player above this post.
