A “Red Dawn” Casts On Detroit

A remake of the 1984 thriller  "Red Dawn" has begun filming in downtown Detroit complete with gunfire and tanks.  

 The original film cast a young Patrick Swayze, Lea Thompson, Charlie Sheen and Jennifer Grey in a scenario where the United States comes under attack from a foreign country. A group of young rebels calling themselves the "Wolverines" fight to take back their homeland.

The new film takes a similar plot, with some modern changes. The MGM film is due out in November of 2010. Not ANOTHER remake!! Can't anyone in Hollywood come up with a unique idea??!?! It seems like every movie is a remake, sequel, made from tv, etc. Now even tv is going to have a "remake" series with V. They also have the show Eastwick based on the movie of Witches of Eastwick. Television also copies SO many of their shows from British (and other European) television shows. When did Americans become so uncreative?

What I fear is a takeover of fear-mongering ignorant racists who easily forget that the LAST President got us into tremendous debt, unjust wars built on profiteering that continue to kill the innocent, a complete trashing of the environment, destruction of a middle class, soaring unemployment,kissing up to China (and you call President Obama a communist?!)

Not on my watch. I cannot see how the army, navy, marines, air force or the coast guard can support a non-natural born president. If the birth certificate were true then it would be published to prove him right and not act as a festering sore while he hires and fires his confederates and enemies. 0(zero)bama is a blight on America and we need to get rid of the SOB (sic).

My guess is, the will update the film to fit the current geopolitical climate. Perhaps the invading country will be Communist China and/or N. Korea since they are the only country with which our relations are strained and have a sizable enough military to launch such an invasion.

hmmmm, a glimpse into the near future? but instead of fighting to take back our country from control from a foreign country, it will be fighting to take back our country from control of our own government. I do not think that is too far off base, unfortunately.
