House’s Olivia Wilde stops by Fox News!
October 7, 2009 - 5:49 PM | by: Ashley DvorkinFOX’s “House” star Olivia Wilde ventures onto the big screen this November for a passion project she put together with her husband, director Tao Ruspoli. Wilde even helped come up with the idea behind the indie flick “Fix” which is somewhat based on a true story, “I thought, we know so many eccentric people there’s got to be someone we can base an idea on, some story, some experience we’ve had. And I said your brother is this wild character, there must be a day with him that could be a movie and he said well there is one day. And that’s what the movie is, the one day he spent with his brother and it’s altered for dramatic purposes. They added me, I wasn’t actually there.”
The film is a fast-paced road movie about two brothers, one who has to get to rehab in 12 hours or is going to prison for 7 years and those helping him have to raise 5,000 dollars to get him into the rehab. Wilde adds, “the theme of the movie is everyone has a fix, whether that’s drugs or whether that’s an obsession you have with trying to change the world or change other people.”
It was a tough shooting schedule in some risky areas but this actress was up for it, “I was raised by investigative journalists and I think the greatest thing about their work is that they’re willing to put their safety on the line and seek the truth in whatever way they have to and put themselves in dangerous situations. And that was the great thing about this movie; we were going to make it happen no matter what we had to do. We were shooting long hours, when I wasn’t working on “House”, we’d shoot on weekends, on whatever day off I had and that’s why it’s really a labor of love.”
Between this and her gig on “House” Wilde is excited to have so many projects going on, “I’m just lucky that I have anything to juggle so if I were to complain that would be pretty silly. I’ve been very lucky to be able to bounce around to different mediums and be able to do lots of different projects at once and you know, I’ll sleep later.”
As for what’s coming up for her character on the show “13″, she says with season six it’s anyone’s guess, “This season is all about taking risks and doing unpredictable things with the characters… We don’t know what’s happening three shows down the line, so I think that the writers are bolstered by the confidence they’ve been able to gain from the reaction so far to our 6th season and I hope that inspires them to take these great risks.”
Wilde has also recently been named #1 on Maxim’s top 100 list, and has graced the pages of GQ which she sees as just a couple more roles to add to her resume, “Often doing a photo shoot is just like playing a character and you know I can play, I can do the role of a sexual person in a photo shoot just as well as I can play a doctor. And I think that’s why actors often have fun with photo shoots it’s sort of a different character to play.”
Plus it lets her show off another side her Monday night fans don’t always get to see “the great thing about both my GQ shoot and that Maxim issue is they were shot by women. Female photographers I really have a lot of respect for so it’s kind of great to be able to harness my power as a sexual being I guess – be able to be seen as a sexy person but not having to compromise who I am and what I stand for and still being able to be considered sexy even though I wear a floor length lab coat in every episode showing very little skin and spewing out medical terms all day.”
Find Wilde spewing out those medical terms Monday night’s on FOX and branching out with her new film “Fix” out November 20th. To see more of the interview click here
