I agree, MidEast guru. Do these people out there squalling about this REALLY want the world to see their city??? The last time I was there, it was dirty, loud, stinky and scary, and I was in the "heart of beautiful downtown Chicago" going to a famous sports legend's restaurant. Also, I wonder if these same distraught citizens on the liveshot were as torn up about that little boy who was beaten to death in broad daylight? I doubt it. Where was our Great Leader then????? Boy, what a great country!!!
President Obama should not be there, we have enough problems here, especially in chicago/Illinois: Imagine having visitors from all over the world and a heavy rain jamming the traffic for two days. How about the shooting & killing of young kids in Chicago every day and week. Did we fix the budget, when is state income tax coming to fix the deficit in state budget. How about repeated political mechine corruption, political position on SALE. The world is very small, we may be busy with our internal issues, but the world is watching us. We are very selfish, we had many Olympics in north America, why not even one in south America, Is that something Chevas should mention to his neighboors. We are fixing roads now with Federal money, can they sustain 8-years of ice and salt, are we going to fix them again. I don't think Chicago is a proper place for Olympics.

i guarantee you Rio is a million times worse....Rio has the terrible favela wars, rampant crime, homelessness (including so many children), poverty, drugs, widespread corruption in government and police....i'm just really so surprised. i've spent lots of time in Rio....
I'm glad Rio won. I think there is probably less corruption in Rio than Chicago. I also think it is a safer city. I might even defect to that city.
If he can't win the bid for the 2016 Olympics, then it just scary to think if he lead us into War!. I have just viewed the video of the reaction by the crowd to the IOC decision. What a bunch of babies! Don`t they understand this was always for the crooked politicians and their friends to line their pockets at the expense of the taxpayers? As for the Obamas flying over, in separate jets no less, words fail me. The sheer arrogance and talk of wllingness to make sacrifices points to the increasing isolation from the mainstream population. By the way, can this man speak without the aid of a teleprompter or does he just say nothing and practice his loose handed descent of aircraft stairs?
You made a mistake on the total number of planes. It took three for the Messiah, not counting the advance team of Secret Service and FBI Agents. Next he had to bring his lady friend Michelle, and that took at least two more planes. I'm not even counting the military fighters that follow him for security. I don't know why we bother with security. When he is overseas, he is among friends. The Muslims will not allow anyone to hurt him until he destroys our country and ecenomy. They protect their own.
Why would anyone care about the Olympics? WE ARE AT WAR! We are in the midst of an economic crisis! High unemployment! This administration had better WAKE UP! Why not take a trip from DC to Chicago to address gang MURDER of a brilliant young student? That would have shown leadership and focus! Why not go visit Afghanistan as CINC and hold discussions there on "olympian" challenges that face this nation. America is still the best country in the WORLD...in spite of the DC village idiots.

Good for you, Rio! Glad that S. America finally gets the games. But also very glad that my own corrupt city of Chicago loses out. We need to clean out ALL of our politicians and start fresh...corruption & wasteful spending in this city is out of control. Time for the citizens to take our city back.
I am so happy Rio got it. It is a beautiful city and offers a lot to the Olympics, regardless of what some folks may say to degrade that gorgeous city.
