Sounds From a Health Care Debate
September 29, 2009 - 5:00 PM | by: Svein SchwabU.S. Representative Mark Kirk (R-IL) held a health care town hall meeting in Northbrook, Ill. on Tuesday where he outlined a centrist health care proposal that according to him will lower costs, increase choice and expand coverage for Illinois families.
He discussed details of Sen. Max Baucus’ (D-MT) recently introduced health care legislation. The Baucus bill would, according to Kirk, cost even more than Speaker Pelosi’s legislation ($1.7 trillion), reduce Medicare by $500 billion, raise taxes by more than $800 billion and pass $37 billion in unfunded Medicaid mandates to states.
