Some Wisconsin Schools Delay Showing Speech
September 8, 2009 - 10:30 AM | by: Marla CichowskiStudents arriving at Central High School in Brookfield, Wisconsin today will not watch President Obama’s message about education. The Elmbrook School District’s Superintendent, Matt Gibson, decided last week not to show the President’s speech live in the district’s schools today. During an interview this morning, Superintendent Gibson told Fox News Channel teachers should have a chance to view the President’s message before showing it to students so they can figure out the best way to include the speech into the students’ curriculum. Gibson says, teachers are welcome to show the President’s message at a later date. One Brookfield man who lives across the street from Central High School asked our Fox News crew member if we were here to cover the school district’s decision not to air President Obama’s message today. When we told him yes, that’s why we’re here, the man said, “Good!” But Superintendent Gibson says he’s also received plenty of negative feedback from parents and other people in the community about the school district’s decision.
