Insurgents attack Kabul Airport
September 8, 2009 - 1:08 AM | by: Conor PowellKABUL – A suicide bomber blew himself up outside the military entrance of the Kabul International Airport early Tuesday morning.
According to Afghan Police, at least 5 people were killed and 7 wounded.
A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack.
The blast rattled windows miles away, and smoke could be seen from the eastern part of the city.
Once reality calm in comparison to the rest of the country, Kabul has seen a significant increase in violence in recent months.
In August, a suicide bomber attacked the main entrance of the NATO headquarters – killing 7 and wounding 91.
Flights in and out of the airport, a combined civilian and military facility, have resumed.
