Human Caused??

September 2, 2009 - 1:53 PM | by: Adam Housley

As the smoke continues to drown much of southern California in ash and thick air and as we stand in the heat listening to Governor Schwarzenegger give the latest fire stats, two sources now tell Fox News…including the U.S. Forestry Service…that the so-called ‘Station Fire’ is “human caused”. That does not mean that the fire was caused by an arsonist, all though that could be the case as an intensive investigation involving a number of state, federal and local agencies continues. The area where the fire began is a significant ways into federal forest land in the Angeles National Forest above the San Gabriel Valley.                                                                               We are also now starting to get some tips from various fire officials that there is finger pointing amongst agencies about how the initial attack of this fire was handled. This is not totally abnormal, but some people behind the scenes have some strong opinions. California has a mutual aid set-up to fight wild land fires, the feds would be the ones responsible to call for help from local and and nearby fire departments. It is well known that California fire agencies and the U.S. Forestry sometimes have different battle plans for fires and that might have happened here.
