Search for Missing GA Woman Moves to NC
August 24, 2009 - 10:12 AM | by: David LewkowictAuthorities are searching near Charlotte for a Blairsville, GA woman who disappeared nearly two weeks ago.
A tip to the FOX show “America’s Most Wanted” suggested the body of 38 year-old Kristi Cornwell could be found in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. The show featured Cornwell’s case Saturday night.
The U.S. Marshal’s Service says forty individuals and a cadaver sniffing dog are involved. Sunday’s search turned up nothing but authorities returned Monday to the town nearly 200 miles from where Cornwell vanished.
Police believe she was kidnapped August 11th while walking along Jones Creek Road in Union County. Douglas Davis, Cornwell’s boyfriend, told FOX News that he had nothing to do with her kidnapping. Davis volunteered for and passed a GBI polygraph according to reports.
A $50,000 reward fund has been set up for information leading to Cornwell’s safe return and/or the arrest of those responsible for her disappearance.
Anyone with information about Kristi Cornwell is asked to call the GBI tip-line at (706) 835-2900.
