Possible Break in Serial Killer Hunt?

July 6, 2009 - 3:52 PM | by: Brooks Blanton

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has confirmed for Fox News that investigators are looking at an officer involved shooting in Gastonia, North Carolina as a possible link in the Gaffney, South Carolina murder spree. Police were called to a home in this rural area near Charlotte for a burglary call around 2 a.m.  When they arrived they found three people at a home which was vacant and had no electricity.  Police report that one man pulled a gun and shot an officer.  That’s when they returned fire killing him.  A SLED spokeswoman confirms for Fox News that they are looking at the case as a possible link or to simply rule it out in the serial killer case 30 miles to the south in Gaffney.  A vehicle matching the description of the SUV that police are looking for was found at the North Carolina home.
