The Hunt for a Serial Killer

July 5, 2009 - 10:15 AM | by: Brooks Blanton

Investigators in Gaffney, South Carolina are on the hunt for a serial killer they say murdered five people in seven days. The killer's youngest victim, 15 year old Abby Tyler, died yesterday. She was shot in her family's furniture store on Friday. Her father died instantly in the same shooting. Cherokee County Sheriff Bill Blanton has linked three other shootings last week to the killer.

63 year old peach farmer Kline Cash was shot and killed at his rural Gaffney home on June 27th. He was the first victim. The second and third victims were 83 year old Hazel Linder and her 50 year old daughter Gena Linder Parker, found shot in Linder's home on Wednesday. Funeral Services for both women will be held today at 4 pm in Gaffney, a town of about 54,000 people near Greenville.

Investigators say the killer is a white man, about 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 250 pounds. He is believed to be driving a two-door early 90's Ford Explorer, faded gray or champagne in color. If you have any information, call Crimestoppers at 864-489-2746.

This is very scary, I am a gun owner I live in a state where you can carry a gun with a license although I do not carry a gun and would encourage most people not to carry a gun, it will get you into more trouble than help. You just have to adjust your life style to stay safe don not walk or run alone avoid geting into a conversation with someone you dont know "this is how most attackers gain confidence" they say things like you must work out and I bet no one will mess with you. And with women say things like can your husband/boyfriend help me with my car? this is a simple way of finding out if your alone. And just like the old saying if its to good to be true then its not "If he seems wierd he most likely is" I hope this might help someone.

This story is totally creeping me out. My family was on vacation in the Smoky Mountains last week and a man that fits this description approached us with a strange story that didn't sound right. (GPS went out, looking for the airport) (in the mountains?) He made us very uncomfortable and we actually joked about him being on the prowl. Dressed all in black, lot of weird jewelry. I wanted to take a photo of his license plate as he drove off deeper into the park, but he didn't have plates. Wondered who rents cars with no plates. We saw him pulled over talking to other people later in the day. (they also looked uncomfortable with him). I bet it was the same guy!
