Miami, Fl- As we reported earlier, recently-deceased infomercial legend Billy Mays was a passenger on a US Airways flight that made a hard landing, yesterday afternooon at Tampa International Airport. The tires blew out during the landing, according to Mays and other passengers on the flight.Minutes after deboarding, Mays exclusively spoke to Fox affiliate WTVT, in Tampa.
“All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just a I mean the hardest hit,” Mays said” All the top you know the things from the ceiling start dropping, it hit me on the head but I have a hard head so.”
Authorities say they are looking to see if there is a connection between Mays’ death, and any injury he suffered during the landing, but say it is way too early to make any conclusion. The autopsy results will be made available in the next couple days, police said at a news conference in Tampa, earlier today.

Miami, Fl- Fox News can confirm that television informercial pitchman Billy Mays has died. Mays was found unresponsive by his wife inside his Tampa, FL home this morning. According to police, Tampa Fire Rescue pronounced him deceased at 7:45 am. There are no signs of forced entry to the residence and no foul play is suspected, authorities say.The Medical Examiner’s Office should complete the autopsy by tomorrow afternoon.
Mays, 50, was on board a US Airways flight that blew out its front tires as it landed at a Tampa airport on Saturday, MyFOXTampa.com reported. A US Airways spokesman tells Fox that none of the 143 people on the plane were injured in the incident but several passengers reported small injuries like bumps, and bruises. Authorities have not yet made a statement on whether May’s death was related to the incident, but one is expected soon.
Billy Mays’ Wife Deborah Mays released a statement to the public on the passing of her husband:
“Although Billy lived a public life, we don’t anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days. Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times.”
