we will have a system of private great care and public terrible care. And it will cost a fortune. No on w asked the doctors if it is OK with them that they will make much less money. oh and by the way we have a doctor shortage and it is getting worse. A small supply never makes price go down. How come people will pay for TV's and computers and not want to pay for health care

The Fraser Institute is a right wing "think tank" operated by big business. Their reports are kind of like infomercials. If you like the reports they generate, send them money and they will write more reports that you will enjoy reading. I though everyone knew this by now.

I also have family in Canada from Hamilton to Halifax, my parents being immigrants, and all I can say is that Canada's health system is a JOKE. I had a good friend, a 43 year old accountant from Toronto, who came down with breast cancer 8 yrs ago. During her 8 month wait to see an oncologist, it had spread to her rib cage. It took a total of 16 months to arrive at this diagnosis. She had both breasts removed 4 months later. By this time, she had contracted leukemia. Now, some proceudres are indeed rationed by OHEP (Ontario's version of Health Care and supposedly the best one) including bone marrow transplants. To be fair, they hold lotteries to see which patients will receive this procedure each year. Well, to make a long story short, after losing this lottery for three years, she died a very agonizing death.

How about a 78 year old man, after waiting 9 years for knee replacement surgery, the only pain killer allowed after surgery (double knee replacement) was Tylenol by mouth.

My cousin in Hamilton blew his knee out AT WORK. All he needed at the time to fix this was some minor arthroscopic surgery. After an 11 month wait, during which OHEP sent him to an acupuncturistfor pain, it was found that the damage had progressed to bone on bone damage and it was recommended that he have his knee replaced. That was 6 years ago ... still waiting!

I could go on for hours, but the upshot of this is DON"T BELIEVE THE PROPOGANDA that is currently being spread in the US media and by politicians

The Canadian system is broken and getting worse as are are socialized medicine systems. There are more MRI's in Washington state than in the entire country of Canada. Recovery from every form of cancer is better in the U.S. than in Canada. Average wait time to see a Dr. is 18 weeks. Check the many studies completed by the Fraser Institute, a Canadian research group and you will want nothing to do with Obama's unhealthy plan. He and congress and their families would of course be exempt. What a joke.

Interesting. FOX truly did their research when they pulled this article together. A relative of mine recently had an MRI in Canada. It was an "elective" MRI and was done in two weeks. Funny how FOX doesn't mention this. Just the negatives to push their politcal agenda. Another one is their reference to Chaoulli case. The end result of this case was that people in the Province of Quebec were allowed to purchase private insurance for hip, knee and cataract surgeries. To date not ONE insurance plan has been purchased in the province for these procedures. Again not mentioned in the article and I could go on......

Unless of course you're the one waiting.

"They are not that bad."...Yeah, if you don't mind 3-6 month waits for most surgeries that the BC list states. Not exactly "a few weeks sooner".

I'm Canadian and agree that we should have a small elememt of private health care as they do in most countries..But.. I've had MRI's , Cat scans etc and have never had to wait more than two weeks. Last CAT scan was in two days. I don't know where Fox gets their information but it does not reflect my experience nor that of anyone I know.
